Terms of use

Last updated: October 12, 2026

These terms of use form the contract between you and Mataba Corp ("we") for the use of the Fricot service. By creating an account, you accept them. Read them together with our privacy policy.

1. The service

Every week, Fricot offers you a recipe plan built on the flyer deals of the grocery stores you choose near you, according to your profile: number of people, days and times of meals, allergies, foods to avoid, speed and type of recipes, budget per serving and kitchen equipment. Each plan includes recipe cards, adjustable servings and a grocery list sorted by store.

Recipes are created with artificial intelligence tools, then checked automatically before they reach you. Photos illustrate the dish and may differ from your result.

The service does not sell any food products and does not place orders with grocery stores.

2. Your account

  • You must have reached the age of majority to create an account.
  • You provide accurate information, including your allergies, and keep it up to date.
  • You keep your password confidential and are responsible for the use of your account. Let us know without delay of any unauthorized use.
  • Only one free trial is offered per account.

3. Free trial

The free trial gives you 2 weeks of plans, with no credit card, with at most 4 recipes a week. It starts on the Monday of your first plan week: the current week if you finish your profile from Monday to Wednesday, the following week if you finish it from Thursday to Sunday.

The trial ends at no cost and does not renew automatically. Plans already prepared stay available; to get a new plan, choose a paid subscription.

4. Subscriptions and prices

Three paid subscriptions are offered, in Canadian dollars: monthly at $2.99 a month, annual at $18.99 a year and 3 years at $44.99 for 3 years. Applicable taxes (GST and QST) are added to the price shown.

Each subscription is paid in advance for its whole period, by card, on Stripe's secure payment page. It lifts the trial's limits: up to 14 meals a week.

We may change our prices. A new price never applies to a period already paid for: we will let you know by email at least 30 days before the renewal concerned, and you can cancel before then.

5. Automatic renewal

Each subscription renews automatically at the end of its period, for a period of the same length, and payment is taken from the card on file, until you cancel. Your next renewal date is shown in your account.

6. Changing subscriptions

You can change subscriptions at any time from your account, through Stripe's secure management portal:

  • to a longer subscription: the change takes effect right away; a new period starts that day, charged at the new subscription's price, minus a credit for the unused part of the old one, and your renewal date changes accordingly;
  • to a shorter subscription: the change takes effect at your next renewal, and your account shows it until then.

Changing subscriptions never results in double billing.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period: you keep access until then, and no new payment is taken. Unless the law requires it, the current period is not refunded.

These rules apply subject to your rights under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act.

8. Declined payment

If a renewal payment is declined, no new plan is prepared until your card is updated in your account. The plan already prepared stays available. As soon as a payment succeeds, the missing plan for the current or following week is prepared right away.

9. Allergies and food safety

Each recipe is created with the allergens you declare and the foods you exclude in mind, then checked automatically to rule them out before it reaches you.

This check relies on ingredient names: it does not know the exact composition of the products you buy. Always check product labels: ingredients can change, and products may contain traces of allergens (cross-contamination). If you have a severe allergy, ask a health professional for advice.

The service does not provide medical or nutritional advice. You are responsible for declaring your allergies and the foods to avoid, and for keeping them up to date.

10. Deals and prices

Deals come from grocery stores' public flyers. They are for guidance only: a price may change or vary from one store to another, and a product may be sold out. Check prices in store. We do not guarantee any specific savings.

Fricot is not affiliated with any grocery store. The names and trademarks of grocery stores belong to their owners.

11. Content and permitted use

The service, its recipes, photos and texts are for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not resell, republish or scrape them, interfere with the service or bypass its security measures.

12. Availability of the service

We do our best to keep the service available and to have your plan ready every week, but interruptions may occur, for example for maintenance or when a flyer is not published. We may change the service over time.

13. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages related to the use of the service, including an inaccurate price or deal, or a reaction to a product whose label was not checked.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, nor our liability for any injury that the law does not allow us to exclude.

14. Closing and suspending an account

You can ask us to close your account at any time; your information is then entirely erased, except the billing records the law requires us to keep, as set out in our privacy policy. Cancel your paid subscription first so that it does not renew.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, after notifying you when possible.

15. Personal information

Our privacy policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will send you any change by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, with the new version and its date. If you refuse the change, you can cancel your subscription at no cost before that date.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute falls under the courts of Quebec, subject to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

18. Language

These terms are written in French and English. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
